It is with great sadness that we have to report the passing of Fred Crouch, the Barbel Society President.
Fred was instrumental in the formation of the Society and he leaves a massive void in not just the Society but the barbel fishing world as a whole.
We are obviously discussing what we should do to commemorate Fred’s life and as details emerge we will keep you informed.
The next issue of the Barbel Fisher will now become a Tribute to Fred and we will also be organising a permanent memorial at Kings Weir, the fishery Fred loved and where it all started.
The funeral will be private but we are already discussing plans for a memorial day to be held close to his home where all the people who knew Fred will be able to come along to celebrate his life.
The barbel world is now a poorer place but Fred brought joy, happiness and fun to everyone he came into contact with and that is how we will remember him.
